I Am Pleased.

I knocked on over a thousand doors for obama over the last few weeks (in ohio) and I am pleased to report that my county is a pleasant blue color.  I am also pleased to report that my state went for obama, as did the nation and that florida might soon as well.

What is the expression?  God is in his heaven and all is right with the world.

I guess one outta two ain’t bad : P

I kid (atheist humor).

But yeah, OBAMA WON.  FUCK YEAH.

I was down at the local campaign HQ when they announced it, people went ape shit.  One woman was crying, everyone was hugging each other.

Honestly it’d be worth knocking on another thousand doors.

    Good to hear Obama won.

  2. Congratulations! Even here in Canada, people were cheering and honking as soon as it was announced. I’m happy for the U.S. and for the world.

  3. Don’t think this is over.  We aren’t going to let our country be taken from us just like that.

  4. agnophilo says:

    @ohellino – : D@EmilyandAtticus – : D@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – It’s all of our country, not “your” country asshole.

  5. @EmilyandAtticus – No, they weren’t. Do not lie. I’m Canadian too, remember? I live in the most-powerful city in Canada. NO ONE was cheering Obama’s victory here because most everyone in Canada doesn’t give a shit.

  6. @Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – Sadly enough, it’s over. Your country will die, and you will drag us down with you. I have demanded my government sever all economic ties to the USA to ensure we survive. End NAFTA now.

  7. @agnophilo – AMBROSIUS said ‘our country’. Learn to read. I trust his intellect far, far more than I trust yours.

  8. @CanuckFascist – Sadly yes.  4 years from now we will probably be paying $8 a gallon.

  9. @Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – I know this, which is why I fear my country’s future, especially since my country’s economy is directly tied to your own. It is why I wish us to be free of NAFTA, and strike out on deals with the Chinese and Indians.

  10. @agnophilo – No, we are separate peoples. It’s time for secession.  My people are the ones who relate to the philsophical basis upon which this country was founded.  Your people are the ones who relate to the communists, globalists, and Muslims.  If we don’t get our country back then we are fine with splitting and letting you guys keep your Democrat states while we get the south and center of the country.

  11. @CanuckFascist – I agree, and in this case I don’t blame you at all.  The US is going down.  The only way to save it is to break it up.  I was so hopeful, and now my only hope is either secession or moving overseas.

  12. @Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – I feel for you, for I am certain you are a patriotic American, and you love your country as much as I love mine, well, not quite as much but there it is. I could never leave Canada. Where would I go?I had been thinking about starting my own party, but I doubt the National Socialist Worker’s Party of Canada would ever get far here in the home of commie-pinko libtardism.

  13. maniacsicko says:

i watched the news about syria and stuff, i thought, not all is right with the world…are you saying the other one is true?haha, ok lame joke..anyways, i think just like whenever anyone won an election, like people say, now the real work starts…

  14. galadrial says:

If the GOP wanted us to vote for someone else, It would have been useful to run a VIABLE candidate. Not a silver spoon elitist, who has no clue, nor grasp o what life is like for the 99 percent. I’m not talking “redistribution”…I’m talking LIVING. The working poor were ignored. Women were insulted on a near daily basis. Students were going to be screwed…we were looking at world class issues…not to be solved by a man who sat out Viet Nam trying to convince the French to stop drinking and smoking.

  15. agnophilo says:

@CanuckFascist – And the rest of the sentence made clear that by “our” he meant conservatives or republicans.  You shouldn’t be criticizing anybody’s reading comprehension skills.@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – The price of gas was higher under the bush administration and began to rise when republicans controlled the house, senate, white house and supreme court simultaneously.  Again just ignoring reality and pretending all bad things are caused by democrats and all good things are caused by republicans.  The national debt is 90% republican and before that a democratic president had the only surplus since the great depression and republicans have convinced their flock of mindless followers they’re the party of fiscal responsibility.@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – I love how conservatives act patriotic and talk about how evil tyranny is, then demand the nation be destroyed if any election result displeases them.  GROW THE FUCK UP.@maniacsicko – Yeah, but let me enjoy it for a day : )@galadrial – The republican party makes the dem’s job easier by having disdain for nearly every voting block.  The working poor, women, every minority.  They run on a platform of “I don’t believe in addressing your problems (unless you’re rich or evangelical).

  16. @galadrial – So “vote with your private parts” is not an insult?

  17. @agnophilo – I’m ignoring reality?  Hardly.  The price of gas went up during the wars, and during Katrina.  Republicans only had the majority in Congress during Bush’s first term.  During his second the Dems took it.  The price of gas is higher under Obama than it ever has been before.  The worst it got under Bush was maybe $2 a gallon, now it’s about $4.  Another 4 years of Obama and it’s going to go up again.  You voted for this.  Obama doubled the national deficit.  Yes Bush put a deficit there and Obama got it, but Obama doubled it.  If Obama’s policies were any good then the deficit would have gone down rather than doubled.  Stop making excuses for him, you’re only degrading yourself.  If you like socialism and world government that’s fine, I hate those things myself but you are entitled to your own views.  If you voted for Obama on those grounds then you voted based on your principles.  But you need to stop making factually incorrect statements about there being a surplus or Bush having the highest gas prices.  Sometimes you just come across as a party sycophant.  Look at me.  I get angry a lot, but I have realistic views on life and on politicians.  You won’t find a single glowing or suck-upish entry about the Republicans on my page.  Not one, no matter how far back you go in any of my journal entries.  There is no surplus, only more debt, and more people on welfare and foosdstamps than ever before.  There is no fiscal responsibility among the Dems, and you know it, and you have indirectly admitted it to me before.  You know full well they are operate based on Keynesian economics, and they have done so for decades.  That is irresponsible.  You don’t spend money before you have it.  A fool and his money are soon parted.  Now the Dems will put us in a bigger hole than ever before, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.  They will take the next election, if there is one, no matter how bad things get because you people buy hook line and sinker whatever the Dems and the liberal media tell you.  They will tell you that the hard times are all Bush’s fault, and you will continue to believe them, and America will be destroyed. How is my talk about secession going to destroy the country?  Can you build an objective case for why keeping conflicting people’s under the same government is better than letting them go their own way?

  18. agnophilo says:

@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – “I’m ignoring reality?  Hardly.  The price of gas went up during the wars, and during Katrina.  Republicans only had the majority in Congress during Bush’s first term.”  So if the cost of oil goes up over the next 2 years obama isn’t responsible because he doesn’t control congress?  And the wars were bush’s first term.”During his second the Dems took it.”  And republicans abused senate rules to prevent any meaningful legislation from being passed.”The price of gas is higher under Obama than it ever has been before.  The worst it got under Bush was maybe $2 a gallon, now it’s about $4.”  Stop lying.”Another 4 years of Obama and it’s going to go up again.  You voted for this.  Obama doubled the national deficit.  Yes Bush put a deficit there and Obama got it, but Obama doubled it.”  When obama came into office the deficit was 1.2 trillion, it went up to 1.4 trillion in the first year, then it went down to 1 trillion and the projected deficit for next year is 900 billion.  So no, you’re either lying or ignorant.”If Obama’s policies were any good then the deficit would have gone down rather than doubled.”  So obama’s policies are good, I agree with you.”Stop making excuses for him, you’re only degrading yourself.  If you like socialism and world government that’s fine, I hate those things myself but you are entitled to your own views.”  When I think of tyranny I think of people like you who want to abolish democracy because they lost an election, not the post office.  You act like librarians are putting people on trains to death camps or something.”If you voted for Obama on those grounds then you voted based on your principles. “Yeah, nothing partisan about you at all.  And if my claims are inaccurate, please give sources to refute them.”There is no surplus, only more debt, and more people on welfare and foosdstamps than ever before.”  And if there were twice as many homeless people, there would be twice as many people in soup kitchens.  But to blame the soup kitchen as though it caused the homelessness would be unreasonable, no?  The policies that caused the housing market to crash, the banks to be too big to fail and the middle class to shrink into poverty were passed by republicans and democrats in congress, and literally all of them preceded the obama administration.”There is no fiscal responsibility among the Dems, and you know it, and you have indirectly admitted it to me before.”  Um, when?  And as I said the deficit is almost entirely made up of republican policies.  I don’t see how in the universe we inhabit republicans score higher in terms of fiscal responsibility.  The only democratic policies that have added to the deficit in the last decade and a half was pretty much the stimulus, and that was designed to prevent another great depression which, whether you agree with the policy or not, was in principle a net gain for the economy since a longer recession would mean more debt anyway.  Might as well spend more early and shorten the recession, and put unemployed people to work in temporary jobs than just give them welfare.”You know full well they are operate based on Keynesian economics, and they have done so for decades.  That is irresponsible.  You don’t spend money before you have it.  A fool and his money are soon parted.”If you’re a businessman and you own 3 diners and at one of them the roof caves in and you have to close your diner so you’re not making any money from it.  Lets say you don’t have enough cash on hand to fix it what do you do?  Take out a loan to get the roof fixed so you can open for business ASAP and lose less money from being out of business, or wait six months until you have enough?  Now if you crunch the numbers the two options might, from a strictly profit basis be about even, or the latter may even be better.  But lets say in the meantime your employees can’t find other jobs because it’s the only diner in town and they’re going to lose their homes.  And because you also run the local homeless shelter and all of the local charities you’re going to have to absorb that cost too.  If this is the case, doesn’t taking out a loan to get them back to work sound like the overall best solution? This is keynesian economics in a microcosm.  It doesn’t seem at all unreasonable and I’ve never yet heard an actual argument against it, just contemptuous, vague comments like yours sneering at it without giving a reason.”Now the Dems will put us in a bigger hole than ever before, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.”  I think it’s completely unrealistic to suppose that any president or policy could’ve gotten rid of the deficit in four years in the shape the economy was in when obama left office.”They will take the next election, if there is one, no matter how bad things get because you people buy hook line and sinker whatever the Dems and the liberal media tell you.  They will tell you that the hard times are all Bush’s fault, and you will continue to believe them, and America will be destroyed.”This is the reality of who is responsible for the deficit.  Bush may be gone but his policies are still here.”How is my talk about secession going to destroy the country?”  How is making america cease to exist going to destroy america?  Whatever dude.”Can you build an objective case for why keeping conflicting people’s under the same government is better than letting them go their own way?”If everybody who disagreed had their own country there would be 300 million countries in what we call america.  And look at an electoral map sometime, “red” states have plenty of blue in them and visa versa.  What, are you going to deport all the liberals from the south because they’re not in the majority?  Wouldn’t that be about a billion times more unfair and tyrannical than anything obama could ever do?

  19. @CanuckFascist -Thanks.  I don’t know much about Canada, but my impression is that it’s going the way of England, and after this election the US is as well.  If I were English I would be ashamed to death of England.  Now Obama and his people are bringing all that madness here.  Even if I completely lose my country I still have my identity as an individual.  I can build a new life for myself somewhere else where my talents are appreciated, and if enough of my people relocate with me we can create a new nation somewhere else.  I was thinking about going to South Korea for work, where I have had multiple job offers, and then retiring to either Costa Rica, Argentina, or India.

  20. @agnophilo – Stop absolving this man.  He started out with a majority in Congress.  He controls the Senate now.  He constantly blocks domestic drilling for oil, blocks the pipeline from Canada, and gives money to asshats like Chavez so that they can drill for oil.  You got Obamacare.  What do you want to force on us next?  He sure has gotten away with spending in spite of the Republicans, who are really fairly impotent and increasingly so.You stop lying.  I know how much freaking gas I put in my car.  I pay more to fill up my tank of gas now than I paid to purchase Skyrim. That’s bloody ridiculous.  I never paid $4 under Bush.  Even assuming your graph isn’t complete hogwash, it still shows the peaks from 2008 on.The deficit has doubled.  Either you are lying or you are severely data blind.Oh I fully admit to being 100% anti-Democrat, but you will find that I am 0% sycophant for the Republicans or any politicians for that matter.  Show where I write a single suck-upy entry about any politician.  I’ll give you the rest of this month.Nice how you think one custom made example somehow builds a case for your policies on a macro level.  You do realize that there is going to be very little private sector growth and a lot of businesses going out of business now yes?  But to answer your allusion, if they get a private sector loan then yes that’s good.  If they get a government loan then it’s bad.  Maybe the government saves that business but to do so they kill another.America doesn’t cease to be America.  We will have our America and you will have yours.  We don’t need eachother for anything, at least, we don’t need you guys.  America may be a little smaller geographically but it will be so much better. When England split the Indian subcontinent between Pakistan and Hindustan/India there was a good deal of movement across the new border, with Hindus leaving durka land and Muslims living India.  Most of the migration would be voluntary and much of it immediate.  Over time liberals in the US would move out to liberal land so that they could either have their socialism and mooching, and conservatives in liberal land would move out as things got more oppressive for them there.  It makes no damn sense to keep going with this bullcrap imperialist system that’s in place now.  But as to your comment about breaking the country up smaller and smaller, who cares as long as you get what you want and don’t have to deal with any opposition?  You should be happy.  You know the city state is the oldest and most traditional form of human political organization, and all of the most brilliant classical civilizations (with a few exceptions like China and Egypt) began that way.  Going back to that would not be such a bad thing, but I seriously doubt it would come to that.

  21. agnophilo says:

@Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – I’m not going to continue to talk with someone who rejects facts and data in favor of anecdotal evidence and refuses to cite any source for any claim.  You will believe what you want to believe regardless of how absurd or untrue it is.Go post your “la la la la I can’t hear you” crap on someone else’s blog.

  22. @agnophilo – Oh yes?  I very seldom say anything which cannot be easily backed up with data.  The deficit:http://fxmadness.com/2012/10/12/general/another-trillion-deficit/http://raymondpronk.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/obamas-socialist-mopster-red-bucket-brigade-for-the-rockefeller-and-soros-agenda-of-world-socialist-government-a-new-world-order/http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/left-quandary-blame-bush-or-ask-for-help/question-1170333/?link=ibaf&q=national%2Bdeficit&imgurl=images.sodahead.com%2Fprofiles%2F0%2F0%2F2%2F0%2F7%2F1%2F1%2F5%2F1%2Ffederal-deficit-23148405175.pngGas prices: http://newsroom.aaa.com/tag/triple-a/http://www.conservativedailynews.com/2011/04/high-gas-prices-driving-america-into-the-ditch/What else do you want links for?Listen, if I don’t provide links for every single point it’s because I don’t see the need to provide sources for facts which you are already aware of.  Of course, it may be that you really don’t know, in which case I apologize for over-estimating your level of knowledge and awareness.

  23. gayXianmom says:

Thank you for all your hard work! I thought of you with a smile when I heard how Ohio went. Huge congratulations and thanks!

  24. @Ambrosius_Augustus_Rex – Why would you willingly turn your country over to the liberal assholes who seek to destroy it? Your people rose up against my ancestors (an act of treachery no doubt) and managed to build a country of their own, with their own beliefs. Why not start another revolution? Force may be necessary. You had no problem using force against the most-powerful nation on earth in the day. Liberals/libertarians/communists are pussies by comparison.

  25. @CanuckFascist – Clearly you need to get out more.

  26. @gayXianmom – YOu are thanking him for aiding in the destruction of your country? *ROTFLMAO*

  27. @EmilyandAtticus – Aww, is someone still upset because I made her look the fool? Still have me blocked as a result, I see. *ROTFLMAO* I enjoy the easy, dimwitted ones like you.

  28. @CanuckFascist – Delusions of grandeur eh? You bore me. I wish you didn’t but you do.

  29. My favorite part was when conservativedailynew.com was cited as a legitimate news source, I nearly choked on a Gardetto. (To be fair, I’m sure the hate spewers would have loved that.)Oh, I didn’t bother clicking any of the links for validation, I already know two of them are partisan news propaganda articles written with no facts to support their claims what-so-ever. I stopped reading the drivel when the “gas prices are obama’s fault” thing came up. Ho hum.

  30. @EmilyandAtticus – C’mon, her name’s canukfascist… what do you expect? :PI’m simply dramatic. *Swoons like some campy performer.*

  31. BobRichter says:

Government has virtually no control over the price of gas (and no proper conservative would want it to.) Petroleum is a durable commodity that is globally traded and speculated on. Prices are high despite America’s diminishing reliance on foreign supply (we’re a net exporter now) because industrialization continues in populous southern Asia and because oil speculation is rampant. Gas prices were low in 2009 because the economy was in the crapper. A lot of things are cheap when the sky is falling. The US is fine. It’s not great, but it’ll survive the next two years in spite of the Republicans. As for secession…how did illegal armed insurrection work out for the South last time, again?Besides, the South *is* dependant on the North, for economic resources, for justice, for morality, what-have-you. Cutting you loose would be uncharitable and immoral. So we’ll drag you kicking and screaming into this century and the next if we have to, no matter how badly you’ve deluded your ignorant masses.”Obamacare” a.k.a. “Romneycare” began life as a policy proposal by the Heritage Foundation, as an alternative to Hilarycare. It’s a conservative idea, and naturally flawed as such things tend to be. We don’t really like it. We just like it better than what we had before. Which was/is crap.CanuckFascist, it was the (rich, populous, and most importantly seagoing) northeast that won a revolution against England, not the South. If you think America is in trouble because it re-elected a “liberal” president you’re wrong on two points: Barack Obama’s no liberal (either in the classic or the right-wing-demon senses of the word) — in a saner era, he’d have been a moderate Republican; and we’ll survive because of it, not despite it.

  32. Iassi says:

Glad he won, amazed by the ignorants posting here.

  33. Brian Dead Rift Webb says:

It has been a while since you posted this. Are you still glad Obama won?
Nothing still has changed from the Bush era. We are still in wars that we shouldn’t be in. Pot is still illegal by federal law. Romneycare (which was repackaged as Obamacare) still is fucked up.

We still have the dollar depreciating at an incredible rate, due to an inflation of production of those same dollars.

From my point of view, we are just seeing the 8 years of Bush being repeated but under the name of Obama.
