Someone posted the following comment:
“Watching the celebrations for his re-election, it’s like that moment when your teenage daughter comes to you, and tells you that her boyfriend just proposed to her. You know, the unemployed, uneducated, unskilled, drug addict boyfriend that only proposed so she’d let him in her pants.
You know better.
But she’s 18, so you can’t stop her, and talking sense into her clearly didn’t work.
She’s off on her glamorous new life of reckless abandon.
The only difference is, when it’s your daughter, and she calls you to come rescue her from her mistakes, you’ll go.”
To which I responded:
“When I read comments like this, it’s like when you wander into a klan rally and hear people equating a self-made millionaire, best selling author, nobel prize winner who worked his way through law school and became the first black president of both the harvard law review and the united states of america being equated to an “unemployed, uneducated, unskilled, drug addict”.
They’re bitter and hateful.
You know better.”
